The slide cutaway effects the mixture up to 1/4 throttle openings.
Slides are available in sizes 1, 2, 3, 3.5, 4, 5 & 6
3.5 is the standard size that comes supplied with the new carbs, if you require a leaner mixture use a larger cut away (larger number) and if you need a richer mixture use a smaller cut away (smaller number), this increases the air speed over the jets therefore pulling more fuel though them.
